Listen . . . Come

Got his in my mail today . . .

Dear Good Friend,

Lent is a time for prayer. Take time to go away from the distractions, worries and concerns.

Listen. He's telling you that He is control, that the best is yet to come.

Come to Jesus in prayer.

Listen

We get to pick our second word - LISTEN. We listen to God, and God listens to man as well.

Some revelations for me:
(1) Faith comes by hearing, this has been said by priests and preachers (and it's in the Bible). I try to follow this for I want to increase my faith. I follow, but have not fully understood.
(2) Tonight, I realize that when one reads, it is the mind that processes the information. One cannot read with his heart, but he can hear, not only with his ears, but also with his heart.
(3) When you hear your name, you are urged to respond.
(4) When you hear . . . you act, either you follow, you do otherwise or you do not do anything.
(5) I also got to know that Mary listens to God, she keeps the things she hears in her heart and she acts according to His will, not hers. Thus we say, she has Faith.

Faith comes by hearing. Again, the word is "Listen".

If today you hear His word, harden not your hearts.

Calling

Today is the very first time we celebrated the Word as Community 3, the last day of March, 2011. Noted.

Our word - CALLING.

I was somehow struck by the "calling of Moses" in Exodus 3. The things that stuck were:
(1) We get curious about something (like the burning bush) which make us come close to God.
(2) When we get close enough, God calls us by name.
(3) When we respond, we allow God to reveal Himself to us.
(4) Then, God presents His plan and instructs us.
(5) We either follow or not act or act but not follow accordingly.

Again, the word is "Calling". Have you been called yet?

If Today You Hear His Voice

If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts. This verse seem to be passing by me on a daily basis lately.

Something else I read today . . .

Four steps to achievement :
1. Plan purposefully
2. Prepare prayerfully
3. Proceed positively
4. Pursue persistently

Now, the only thing left to do for me is to follow this great advise. Go!

Give Up . . . This Is Not Getting You Anywhere

Yup, there are times things are just too heavy for me. Nakakapagod na! (So tiring!)

When things seem to be all going down the drain, I simply stop a while and try to rest at night (though most of the time sleep doesn't come). I then say to myself, "Things will come to pass and help shall come from the One whom I trust, the One who loves me in the dimension of the cross."

A winner is just a dreamer who never gave up. Why then must I give up my dreams? I shall keep on dreaming, then wake up and act to pursue the dreams.

There is no short cut to success. It’s always toiling and striving and sweating it out and fighting the voice that rings in our head “Give up Francis, this is not getting you anywhere…” It’s refusing to give up when it seems like the effort is futile. Same thing in business, same thing in career and it’s certainly the same thing in the Christian life.

Basketball legend Michael Jordan says: "I've missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot . . . and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Oliver Cromwell says it very well: “Not only strike while the iron is hot, but make it hot by striking.”
